Walker Royce is the author of three books: Eureka! Discover and enjoy the hidden power of the English Language (Morgan James, 2011), The Economics of Software Development (Addison Wesley, 2009) and Software Project Management, A Unified Framework (Addison Wesley, 1998). Before joining Rational/IBM, Walker spent 16 years at TRW where he was a recipient of TRW’s Chairman’s Award for Innovation and was a TRW Technical Fellow. He received his BA in physics from the University of California and his MS in computer engineering from the University of Michigan.


Walker travels often to every region in the world. He has mentored and managed a large worldwide team of technical professionals that has given him decades of practical experience in communicating internationally and accommodating diversity in multi-national cultures. Developing leadership skills in people from around the world has allowed him to synthesize some compelling lessons on patterns of effective communications.


Walker currently resides in New England with his wife Jennifer and their dog Corey. He has raised four children. He has a passion for observing communications styles, crafting puzzles, and teaching others. He also enjoys backpacking, canyoneering, hiking, biking, running and geocaching.
